Tigers boss looking to piece together promotion plans

Nick Barmby admits Hull City are heading into a 'massive week' as he prepares to discuss the club's future with owner Assem Allam. The Tigers fell agonisingly short in their efforts to make the Championship play-offs this season, with an eighth-place finish leaving them seven points off the pace. That is a gap they intend to bridge next term, with the club determined to battle their way back into the Premier League. Barmby is the man charged with the task of taking them back to the big time and he is already looking to put plans in place for 2012/13. He is hoping he will be given licence to dip into the transfer market by Allam and concedes that it is vital that Hull get the big decisions right at this stage if they are to taste promotion success in the future.

Momentum

"It's been well documented but it is a massive week for us," said Barmby. "We'll sit down with the owners and discuss our budget but momentum is everything. You can't stand still at any time if you want to do well. "We know we've got the basis of an exciting team but we've got to keep it going now. We all want the same goal, for Hull City to be successful. "I genuinely believe that we can be one of the teams that can be right up there next season."
