Portland Timbers defender Liam Ridgewell picks his #One2Eleven on The Fantasy Football Club - and found room for himself in the team!

The MLS Cup-winning star, who is currently on loan with Brighton during his off-season, picked a 4-2-3-1 formation for his squad, with the majority of the players coming from his time at Aston Villa.

Birmingham, West Brom and Wigan are also among his former clubs, while his stint Stateside has been a big success so far too.

So who features in the defender's XI? Carry on reading to find out...

GOALKEEPER: Ben Foster and Joe Hart

I've been struggling with this all week and I can't split them. I'll probably see Fozzie before I see Harty so I'll put Ben in, but they're both top goalkeepers.

RIGHT-BACK: Stephen Carr

Also See:

I played with him at Birmingham. Just an unbelievable guy and a proper professional. He's good in the dressing room and with the lads.

CENTRE-BACK: Gary Cahill

I played with him at Aston Villa and you could see he was a very good player then. He's gone on to big things and has been doing really well. A really nice guy too, and excellent on the ball.

CENTRE-BACK: Dion Dublin

If I didn't put him in, I'd have been slaughtered! He played with me in defence for the reserves at Villa a few times, and he's a really good centre-half! He actually played there in front of me for the first team! A brilliant guy.

LEFT-BACK: Liam Ridgewell

I have to play in my own fantasy football team! I was going to play centre-half, but Dion can't play left back. If I wasn't going to put myself in, I would have gone with Leighton Baines, though. He's a great left-back, and although he's had a few injury problems, he's still superb.

CENTRE-MIDFIELD: Steven Davis

A really good player, cool and calm on the ball, and he's in more of an attacking role at Southampton now and has got plenty of goals. He's come into his own this year and is doing really well.

CENTRE-MIDFIELD: Gareth Barry

He speaks for himself. Playing with him at Villa was unbelievable - you could put him anywhere on the pitch and he'll take the ball and dictate play. He's such a good player. You'd put him up there with all the top English players.

RIGHT-WING: Paul Merson

It was Merse or Nobby Solano - and it was a tough one. But coming through the ranks at Villa, Merse was setting the standard for all the young players.

ATTACKING-MIDFIELD: David Ginola

What a man. He was in the latter stages of his career at Villa, but he once played sweeper in a reserve game I was playing in. I was supposed to be playing centre-half, but he asked to play there and I had to go and play left wing! He was sitting back and pinging balls everywhere.

LEFT-WING: Ashley Young

At Villa he was incredible. We had John Carew up front and Young would stick it on his head every time. He scored so many goals off him. He's at Man United now obviously and you want to play wherever you can, but I don't think he'll be happy at right-back. United bought him to get crosses in and score goals.

CENTRE-FORWARD: Obafemi Martins

He was incredible. He came to Birmingham and there was so much expectation on his shoulders to keep us up. He scored a lot of goals, and he was so, so quick. He was strong on the ball too and his left foot was phenomenal, a great combination. He could really strike a ball. That goal that won the Carling Cup was a special moment as well.
