Midfielder faces lengthy injury lay-off

Birmingham City midfielder Borja Oubina looks to be facing a minimum of six months on the sidelines after rupturing his cruciate ligaments. Oubina, who is on a season-long loan from Celta Vigo, suffered the injury in Birmingham's 0-0 draw with Liverpool on Saturday. The Spaniard underwent medical tests over the weekend, which confirmed the damage to his left knee, and Oubina has admitted his disappointment. "This is terrible because I arrived in the Premier League with much anticipation," Oubina told the Spanish media. "I wanted to demonstrate that I would be able to play in this competition. From the first moment I noticed the injury I feared the worst." Oubina, who has two caps for Spain, suffered the same injury to his right knee in 1997.
