Birmingham boss hails midfielder

Steve Bruce has admitted that midfielder Wilson Palacios has played his way firmly into the Birmingham first-team picture. The Honduras international, signed on loan from Olimpia with a view to a permanent deal, has impressed Bruce in recent weeks. Palacios has had to be patient with Birmingham employing Mehdi Nafti and Fabrice Muamba in central midfield but has started to come to the fore in recent weeks. He made his debut in the 0-0 draw at Liverpool when Bruce elected to rest Muamba and has made substitute appearances in each of the last three matches.

Improvement

Bruce told the Birmingham Mail: "Wilson has got a lot to offer. "We have seen a huge improvement in a month - what's he going to be like when he really gets his feet under the table? "I think the kid's got a bit of everything. He's constantly knocking on the door and it's got to a situation where I can't leave him out. "He did extremely well on his debut at Liverpool and he's carried it on."
