Huddersfield have paid Gateshead a further £50,000 after Lee Novak appeared for the 15th time for Town.

Striker delighted old club are benefitting

Huddersfield Town have paid non-league side Gateshead a further £50,000 after Lee Novak made his 15th appearance for the club. The Terriers paid an initial fee of £50,000 for the talented prospect earlier this year, although they were obliged to pay two further payments upon making 15 and then 30 appearances. Novak made his 15th appearance of the season in last weekend's 4-0 League One thumping of Leyton Orient and the 21-year-old is delighted his former club are cashing in.

Delighted

"I really enjoyed my one season at Gateshead and I'm delighted that my playing regularly at Huddersfield will see them receive another £50,000," he told the Evening Chronicle. "I am sure they will spend it wisely. It will be handy for them in the January transfer window. I still keep in touch with many of the lads at Gateshead. "Gateshead and Newcastle's results are the first I look for, and it would be great if Gateshead beat Brentford in the FA Cup and we draw them in the second round." Terriers boss Lee Clark recently brought in ex-Newcastle team-mate Andy Cole to work with his strikers and Novak was pleased to have guidance from one of the Premier League's finest. "It's great working with a proven goalscorer like Andy Cole," he added, "and while I would have liked to have scored more than the two goals I've got so far, I've only played the full 90 minutes once."
