Paul Jewell has called for record signing Robert Earnshaw to prove he warrants a place in the Derby starting line-up.
The 26-year-old £3.5million signing has struggled to make his mark at Pride Park since his summer move from Norwich.
The Wales international has made only two Premier League starts and has failed to find the net.
Held talks
Jewell, who succeeded Billy Davies last month, has held talks with Earnshaw and the rest of the first-team squad.
And the former Wigan boss says he wants to see the striker repeat the form which saw him net 14 goals for West Bromwich Albion when they were in the top flight in 2004/05.
The Derby boss told
The Times: "I've had chats with each of the players and said you have to impress on me that you need to be in the team and that starts in training.
"Robert Earnshaw's scoring record is good. I want to see more off [the ball] from him.
"I want to see more from every player here; it's up to me to get as much as possible out of them."
Potential
Jewell also wants highly-rated 19-year-old midfielder Giles Barnes to get his head down and fulfil his undoubted potential.
"Giles Barnes has got the potential to be a good player. He's young, he's confident - he's got a long way to go," Jewell added.
"He has got a big future if he channels his talents. He's got bundles of talent but there's more to it than talent."
