Hodgson optimistic defender will be fit to face Wolves

West Brom defender Craig Dawson is hoping to recover from facial trauma sustained on England Under-21 duty in time for Sunday's Black Country derby against Wolves. Dawson, who headed from close range to score England's first goal in a 2-1 win over Norway on Monday, was briefly taken off the field after taking a blow to the forehead. The gaping head wound required seven stitches but Baggies manager Roy Hodgson believes it is possible the youngster could feature this weekend. "Craig had done well for the Under-21s but he has a nasty scar and it's right in the middle of his forehead," said Hodgson. "We would hope Craig will be okay for Sunday. Looking at the wound, it's possible." Meanwhile, a slight hand fracture means fellow defender Steven Reid is unlikely to play against Wolves, with summer signing Billy Jones in line to replace him.
