Baggies skipper appreciates he will have to earn recall

Chris Brunt appreciates that the form of those who have helped to cover his absence means he cannot expect to walk back into the West Brom side. The Baggies skipper has been sidelined since New Year's Day with an ankle injury, preventing him from playing any part in the club's last eight fixtures. He is closing in on full fitness, with a return to full training expected by the end of the week. Brunt accepts that he has a fight on his hands to earn a recall, though, with a 5-1 mauling of local rivals Wolves last time out suggesting there is little wrong with West Brom right now. "If we keep playing like we did against Wolves I'll have a job getting back in the team," he told the Birmingham Mail.

Competition

"It was such a good performance by everyone it would be hard to change anyone in the team. "We don't have many injuries, we have good competition for places, and that means everyone has got to be on their toes. "I definitely don't expect to walk straight back in, no way. "I'll need to get a few weeks' training and then hopefully I can prove through training, and whatever game time I do get, I'm ready to go back in. "I'm just looking forward to being involved in games again."
