Defender sets sights on Euro glory after promotion winning season

Wolves defender Richard Stearman believes winning the European Under 21 Championship will be the cherry on top of a fine season. Stuart Pearce's side flew out to Sweden on Thursday and kick off their campaign against Finland on Monday. Inclusion in the squad caps off a superb season for Stearman, who achieved promotion to the Premier League by winning the Championship with the Molineux outfit. "I am really excited about the tournament now," Stearman told the Birmingham Mail. "The boys are all raring to go." "I thought my season had already finished on a high, winning the title and gaining promotion but now I've been picked for the squad it's the perfect end to the season. "Winning the Euros would of course be the cherry on the top." Stearman is the only Wolves player in Pearce's squad as team-mates Michael Kightly and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake miss out through injury. "Unfortunately Sylvan and Kites could not be here but I'm sure they'd have been in the squad as well. "The tournament will be an amazing experience to be involved in along with the best young players in Europe. "It's certainly a big positive to be in that sort of company and a great honour."
