Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is confident Wolves can recover from a mixed start to the Premier League season.
Mick McCarthy's men got off to a winning start as they beat Stoke 2-1 but they have failed to win in the league since.
Saturday's 1-1 draw at home to West Ham leaves them third bottom after four defeats from their opening eight games.
Wolves now have to play the current top four in their next four league games - and face Manchester United again in the Carling Cup.
But Ebanks-Blake, a former United trainee, believes Wolves should have nothing to fear as they prepare for Saturday's trip to league leaders Chelsea.
"We are building slowly," he said. "We have some tough games coming up but it's a long season and we are optimistic.
"Chelsea are a top team, they won the league and were the best team in the league last season.
No complaints
"It's always difficult [going there] but I would rather be playing at Chelsea than away somewhere else so I won't be complaining.
"These are the games we all look forward to as professionals. We will go there and compete and see what happens.
"It's early days. The league is not won or lost in 10 games and you are not relegated in 10 games.
"We will see how it goes and, as I said, we are optimistic."
Ebanks-Blake has already matched last season's total of two Premier League goals but has been used as a late substitute in each of the last two games.
The former Plymouth striker is happy to play a waiting game, though, before earning a recall to the starting line-up.
"I am happy with what I am contributing," he said.
"It's a squad game these days. Let's see how the season pans out."
