Stoke manager Mark Hughes is hoping for a victory this weekend when he takes charge of his 100th game for the club.

Hughes will reach his century when Watford visit the Britannia Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday but the Welsh manager insists his only focus is on the final result, and not any personal milestones.

"You always hope to win, but I'm not too bothered about that kind of landmark," said Hughes.

"I think it's more about focusing on what the team is doing - and we are pleased with that.

"I do think the fact it is 100 games is good as it means I have lasted a little bit longer than I did in my last job [at QPR]. Long may it continue."

Stoke have finished ninth in two successive seasons under Hughes, and have started this campaign in similarly solid fashion with three wins, three draws and three defeats.

Hughes' side are unbeaten in five and are beginning to attract attention for their expansive style of play.

"It's a lot of work by a lot of people that has enabled the club to be stronger - in my view - than it was then I walked through the door," said the 51 year-old.

"We continue to try to push the bar higher and we don't want to stand still.

"I don't think we are anywhere near where we can get to. There's more progress to come, we're confident of that."

Stoke could move up to sixth in the league with a victory against the Hornets but Hughes will have make a late decision on whether to include striker Mame Diouf, who is currently on compassionate leave following the death of his mother.

Ryan Shawcross is also a doubt despite playing for the club's U21s earlier this week as part of his rehabilitation from a back injury.

"Given the circumstances, we're mindful of where Mame is," admitted Hughes.

"If it's the right decision to give him a bit more time, then so be it.

"Ryan probably feels ready. He could play - but the likelihood is he won't tomorrow.

"We have three games over the next week. He's more likely to be involved Tuesday (against Chelsea) and next weekend (against Newcastle)."
