Forward Jonathan Walters is looking to bring an end to Stoke City's poor form when they travel to Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Having never finished higher than ninth since the Premier League was formed in 1992, Stoke were on course for their best ever finish when placed eighth, before a five-game winless run saw them drop down to their current position of 10th below Chelsea on goal difference.
Speaking of Stoke's current form, Republic of Ireland international Walters said: "In the past couple of seasons we've finished well so to be on a bad run now isn't good for us."
He added: "No game in the Premier League is easy. You'll always have ups and downs.
"But we can't be too down after a bad result and we can't be too pleased when we win. It's about remaining level-headed whatever is thrown at you."
A win at Selhurst Park would enhance Stoke's chances of a third successive top-10 finish, but they will have to pull out all the stops against Fa Cup finalists Crystal Palace, who are still not mathematically safe from relegation.
Four out of their last five meetings with Palace have ended in a loss and Stoke are currently on their worst run since the start of the season having conceded 22 goals in their last nine matches.
Manager Mark Hughes will be hoping striker Peter Crouch will once again prove fleet of foot after his standout performance in their 1-1 draw against Sunderland last Saturday.
