Potters defender out to prove Sir Alex wrong

Ryan Shawcross is hoping to prove Manchester United made a mistake in selling him to Stoke City last season. The former Red Devil signed for The Potters permanently last January after initially joining the Britannia Stadium outfit on loan last season. Shawcross believes he could have made the grade at Old Trafford and is keen to use Stoke's impending season in England's top-flight to show Sir Alex Ferguson what he let go.

Mistake

"I want to show they made a mistake by letting me go," he told Sky Sports News. "I want to do that throughout the season. I want to prove I'm a Premier League player." Stoke are among the favourites for instant relegation back to the Championship, but Shawcross believes Tony Pulis' side have a stronger squad than Derby had and are more than capable of staying up. "I think we'll be fine. Our squad is stronger than Derby's. With a few signings I think we'll have a good season," he concluded.
