Williams delight at Mills capture

Colchester boss Geraint Williams has been impressed with loanee Matthew Mills so far.

Colchester United manager Geraint Williams is delighted following his capture of Manchester City defender Matthew Mills on loan.

Mills completed his switch to Layer Road on Friday, and Williams says he has been impressed with what he has seen of the former England Under-19 international so far.

"We've had him watched and he's a defender who likes to get stuck in and do the job that a defender should do," he said.

"I spoke to him on the phone earlier this week and he is really hungry to get down here and play football."

Williams went on to say that he was pleased that he had been able to recruit a player who had Premiership experience.

"He's been in the first-team picture this season for Manchester City and he played for them against Wigan in October," added Williams.

"He's a good player to get on board."

The Championship outfit have been looking to bolster their numbers during the transfer window, as they look to carry their impressive performances in the first half of the season through to the remainder of the campaign.
