Colchester United manager Paul Lambert is planning talks with Alan Maybury after the Irish full-back impressed on trial.
Maybury has spent the past fortnight training with Colchester as he looks for a new club after leaving Leicester City at the end of last season.
The former Leeds United youngster featured for the reserves earlier in the week and impressed Lambert with his display.
Lambert admits the 30-year-old's experience could prove to be useful as he considers adding Maybury to his squad.
"I know what he can do, he's a fit player and a good professional," Lambert told the club's official website.
"He is an international who has played at a high level and he would give us a bit of experience in the building.
"We will have another chat today and see what he has to say."
