Hibernian have turned down a second bid from Colchester United for skipper Rob Jones.

Easter Road outfit keen to keep defender

Hibernian have turned down a second bid from Colchester United for skipper Rob Jones. Colchester upset the Hibernian board earlier this month when they publicised their first move for the 29-year-old defender despite having had their reported offer of £100,000 turned down. Jones is one of Colchester boss Paul Lambert's top targets and he returned with a new bid for the giant defender after missing out Wycombe's Mike Williamson. Hibs have rejected the bid out of hand as they look to try and keep the former Grimsby man at Easter Road. A Hibs spokesman said: "Hibs have categorically rejected the second offer from Colchester." The likes of Sheffield United, Bristol City, Nottingham Forest and Leicester are all thought to be tracking Jones, who has 18 months left on his current contract.
