Tilson confirms loan deal for Arsenal attacker

Southend United have confirmed the signing of Arsenal starlet Sanchez Watt on an initial month-long loan deal. The League One club had agreed the move prior to Monday's transfer deadline, but were awaiting confirmation that all the paperwork had been completed in time. Watt, who scored on his Arsenal debut against West Brom in the Carling Cup earlier this season, will now get the chance to build up his first-team experience at Roots Hall. "It's a good signing for us as he's someone we have watched before," Southend boss Steve Tilson told the club's official website. "He's played for Arsenal's first team at a young age and done well and he's left footed. "He plays on the left wing, but he can also play on the left side of a three-man attack. "That is something we haven't had in the team for a while so it's a good option to have and with Anthony Grant out injured, Stuart O'Keefe struggling with a groin problem and Alan McCormack suspended it gives us a boost."
