Youngster pleased to return to winning ways

Josh Thompson believes Celtic's win over Motherwell has gone some way to helping banish the memory of their Scottish Cup exit. The Bhoys were humiliated by Ross County in the semi-finals at the weekend and were desperate to make amends against Well in the SPL on Tuesday. Neil Lennon's side recovered from a 1-0 deficit to run out 2-1 winners thanks to a brace from promising defender Thompson. Just 27,750 attended the Parkhead clash and Thompson hopes the fans return in their droves against high-flying Hibernian this weekend.

Redemption

"We knew on the pitch and coming off the pitch that Saturday wasn't good enough," the former Stockport apprentice said. "We expected the reaction we got from the fans and the manager knew as well. "Everyone was just looking forward to getting this game so we could show we can turn it round and redeem ourselves from the poor performances. "I don't think we could have come away with anything but a win after Saturday. "I think everyone was a bit nervous because everyone knew the importance of the game, but that settled once we got on the ball a bit. "There were maybe a few bits in the game where the nerves showed but I think we settled pretty well."
