McCall admits League One side want to sign 'Well defender
Boss Stuart McCall has confirmed Sheffield Wednesday have made a bid for Motherwell defender Mark Reynolds.
The 23-year-old is in the final six months of his current deal and the Owls are keen to steal a march on their rivals, making a January transfer bid rather than negotiating a pre-contract agreement.
Reynolds, who has been linked with Rangers and Swansea in the past, featured in 'Well's 4-0 Scottish Cup win over Dundee on Sunday, and McCall admits the bid had him worried.
"The talk prior to this game was a bit unsettling but his attitude was spot on," McCall said of the League One side's bid for Reynolds.
"I said, 'all right, Sheffield Wednesday have made a bid, if you go out today and play well it might be a Championship club making a bid'.
"From a manager's point of view I wouldn't like to lose him, I know the board are not over-keen to lose him, but if the offer is upped and I can bring someone in, we will wait and see."
Despite Reynold's contract running down, Motherwell are reportedly holding out for a six-figure sum but could lose him for nothing in the summer if a deal cannot be struck.
