Reunion with Mackay proves too tempting for full-back

Skysports.com understands that Cardiff City have won the race for out-of-contract Middlesbrough defender Andrew Taylor. Bristol City were also thought to be interested in the full-back, but they have lost out to their Championship rivals. Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray was hopeful of convincing Taylor to sign a new deal and prolong his career at The Riverside. But the lure of again working with Cardiff manager Malky Mackay, for whom he played on loan at Watford last season, proved too tempting. Mowbray had said of Taylor earlier on Thursday: "We're fighting hard, I think he enjoyed the last four or five months with us. "He is out of contract so let's see if we can entice him to stay longer." Mowbray added: "He does have options, some pretty good options which is credit to his talent, but we wait and see and whatever happens, happens."
