Forest keen on experienced centre-half

Sky Sports understands that Nottingham Forest are planning on making a move for out-of-favour Ipswich Town defender Damien Delaney. The 31-year-old could leave Portman Road, with the club willing to let him move on. His sudden availability has alerted the attention of Forest, who find themselves short on defensive options following a number of departures earlier in the summer. The Reds are now under new ownership and in a position to start rebuilding their ranks. Forest boss Sean O'Driscoll has made the acquisition of a new back four a top priority and is reported to be closing in on a deal for Stoke's Danny Collins. He is also understood to be keen on Delaney, who played alongside Collins during the latter's loan spell in Suffolk in 2011. Republic of Ireland international Delaney has vast experience of life in the Championship, having turned out for the likes of Hull City and Queens Park Rangers, and would add important second tier know-how to the City Ground ranks.
