Palace appeared to be heading back down to the Championship after making a poor start to the campaign.
But following the resignation of Ian Holloway in October, his replaqcement Tony Pulis has turned the fortunes of the Selhurst Park club.
Ward said: "It's been incredible. It's definitely something we'll tell in years to come, how we started and how we finished the season, and to challenge myself as well.
"I've always like a challenge. I kind of enjoy when your back is against the wall and you've got to fight your way out and you've got to stand up and be counted for. I've always thrived on that.
"This season it has been incredible to do that and obviously play against some of the names out there."
Ward has been deployed in both full-back roles this season and also in a midfield position, and although he prefers playing in defence the 24-yaer-old is just delighted to be involved.
"I'm naturally a right-back but for me I'm lucky enough to be able to play in a couple of different positions," Ward added.
"And to be honest I don't mind doing that. It's for the team, it's for the squad and obviously I enjoy playing my football and I want to be out on that pitch."
