Barnsley midfielder Paul Digby wants to turn his loan spell at Ipswich into a permanent move.

The 21-year-old has made six appearances for Ipswich since arriving in January until the end of the season, making his first start in Saturday's goalless draw at Middlesbrough.

"I've spoken to the gaffter about it and I think I want to stay here," Digby told Ipswich's official website.

"I'm loving it here. All the boys are class, the staff are class.

"I'm really enjoying my time here so far so I think I'm going to extend it in the summer and if we can come to some sort of agreement, then yes."

Digby progressed through Barnsley's academy and made his first-team debut aged 16 in the Sky Bet Championship against Derby in 2011.

He has made a total of 25 appearances for the Reds but injuries curtailed his progress and earlier this season he struggled to force his way into previous head coach Lee Johnson's first-team plans.

"I'm delighted to make my first (Ipswich) start," he added. "We've got two games left and we'll see what the team is next week.

"If I'm in it I've got to keep doing the same things and keep improving all the time and learning."
