George Boyd believes the "arrogance" Burnley displayed against Preston shows they are not feeling the heat in the battle for automatic promotion.

The Clarets returned to the Sky Bet Championship summit during the last round of matches following a 1-0 win at Deepdale on Friday night and were joined on 87 points by Middlesbrough and Brighton 24 hours later.

Sean Dyche's side are in the midst of a 21-game unbeaten run in the division and know victories over QPR and Charlton will guarantee them a return to the Barclays Premier League as Middlesbrough play Brighton on the final day of the season.

Despite having to fight for points in under-par performances in recent weeks, Burnley were brilliant in the opening 30 minutes against their Lancashire rivals and Boyd insists confidence is running through the squad ahead of the final two fixtures.

"We were full of confidence coming into it," Boyd said.

"You could see in the first half an hour, there was a bit of arrogance about our play.

"We're not feeling the pressure, we're just excited to come out and play.

"We know we needed three wins, we've got one ticked off. It's QPR next and we just keep doing what we're doing.

"We're just more and more confident. We're going into games knowing we're going to win. Losing doesn't come into your mindset at the minute because we're on such a terrific run.

"It's important; in all the promotions I've had that feeling and it's exactly the same here."
