James Tarkowski will miss Burnley’s next three matches after his appeal against a violent conduct charge was rejected.
Tarkowski appeared to elbow Brighton's Glenn Murray during Saturday's goalless draw.
He accepted the charge but appealed the length of the ban, arguing the suspension was excessive.
This was rejected by an independent regulatory commission.
The incident between Tarkowski and Murray was referred to the independent panel after referee Chris Kavanagh did not see the clash between the players.
Tarkowski had given away a penalty when he fouled Murray 10 minutes prior to the off-the-ball incident.
