SPL champions in talks for Burnley winger

Burnley have confirmed that Rangers have made an approach to sign former Manchester United winger Chris Eagles. The 24-year-old, who has 12 months left on his Turf Moor deal, joined the Clarets in 2008 and has become a firm fans' favourite. Eagles made 34 Premier League appearances for Burnley last season - 20 of those as a starter - but was unable to prevent the Lancashire side from being relegated. With the possible threat of losing Eagles on a free transfer next summer, Burnley have now confirmed they are locked in transfer talks for the talented winger. Rangers boss Walter Smith is on the look-out for reinforcements having lost the likes of Kris Boyd, DaMarcus Beasley and Nacho Novo this summer. "Burnley can confirm it has received a formal approach from Scottish Premier League champions Rangers for winger Chris Eagles, who has just 12 months remaining on his current contract at Turf Moor," read a statement on the club's official website. "The two clubs are now in negotiations."
