Alex Neil says last week's win at Old Trafford was a long time coming and suggests Norwich have "turned a corner".

City go to Tottenham on Boxing Day on the back of a 2-1 victory over Manchester United that left them two points clear of the bottom three.

Neil's side had previously run Chelsea and Manchester City close in away games, while Everton and Arsenal have both failed to win at Carrow Road recently.

"I think it's important we seemed to have turned the corner a bit," the manager said. "I think performances have always been stable but it's about winning points.

"We have shown more than enough now against the bigger teams to show others we can win in this league. We have been unlucky that we haven't got one [a win like this] sooner.

Norwich manager Alex Neil believes that the levels in quality throughout the Premier League is closer than ever.

"I think in the Man City game we played really well and I was hoping we could get something from that game but unfortunately we made a few errors that cost us.

"So the fact that we played well against United and picked up three points means a lot to the players. But it's not going to mean anything if we don't kick-on and pick up more results.

"There is no point us going to Old Trafford and getting three points from a really difficult venue and then under-performing in the games coming up which are going to be really important to us.

"So we are looking to try and build a bit of momentum and I think the players have a good belief they can take into the next few games."

Neil knows Tottenham are a strong side to compete against but believes his team have what it takes.

"They have good players but like everyone they have to perform and that's the hard part," he added.

"What they have got is they have a good manager who has got them well organised and they believe in what he is trying to do.

"I think Tottenham are in a good vein of form, I know they lost against Newcastle but apart from that they have been in good form so we need to try and influence the game as much as we can.

"Tottenham have a good settled squad and if they can keep everybody fit they will certainly be near the top come Easter.

"I don't need to remind the players they are capable of winning at Tottenham because they know they are."

Neil is likely to be without Matt Jarvis (knee) and Andre Wisdom (hamstring) at White Hart Lane.

He said: "I think it will be too soon for Matt, he is not quite ready yet. It will be a last-minute decision with Andre as he's not fully fit."
