QPR boss attempts to take positives from Spurs defeat

QPR boss Mark Hughes was unimpressed with referee Phil Dowd after watching his side suffer a 2-1 defeat to Tottenham at White Hart Lane. The west Londoners remain second from bottom of the table after their latest reverse, despite taking the lead through Bobby Zamora and dominating much of the first period. Alejandro Faurlin's own goal levelled matters after the break before Jermain Defoe struck the winner moments later. "I thought we deserved to win," said the QPR boss. "In the first half we dominated proceedings. It was only 1-0 because of Brad Friedel. "Then they went 4-4-2 in the second half and tried to press the game, they got a break at the right time with an own goal which lifted them. "For the second we are very disappointed with the referee. In the build up, there was a clear foul on Esteban Granero then an even more blatant foul on Nedum Onuoha." Jose Bosingwa hobbled off early on with a hamstring injury and Hughes added: "We'll get him scanned and hopefully it will be slightly better news than what we fear at the moment."
