Riyad Mahrez says his outstanding start to the season for Leicester City has not taken him by surprise.
The winger is the Premier League's joint top goalscorer with five in six games and has also made three assists in his side's unbeaten start to the campaign.
Leicester will put that successful record on the line when they welcome Arsenal to the King Power Stadium on Saturday.
However, while Mahrez is in confident mood and says his own impressive performances have simply been a continuation from last season, he also praised boss Claudio Ranieri for helping to add to his game.
"Last season I was like that as well but did not have the success, now this year I have scored," Mahrez told Sky Sports.
"The manager has given me a lot of responsibility and has given me a lot of confidence.
"I'm not surprised about what I can do. I knew I could do things like this."
However, the Algerian admits his sparkling form will come at a price and is now expecting more attention from defenders throughout the Premier League.
With a grin, Mahrez said: "It is more difficult for me now that they know me - they will close a lot.
"So I have to be careful now, they will start to kick me, the manager said to me as well."
