Wes Morgan has urged wantaway Leicester colleagues to follow his footsteps as the Foxes prepare for life in the Champions League.

The Leicester skipper signed a new contract on Wednesday as manager Claudio Ranieri looked to tie down key assets ahead of the coming season.

Striker Jamie Vardy signed a three-year deal last month, but following N'Golo Kante's £32m move to Chelsea, forward Riyad Mahrez is attracting attention from a number of Europe's top clubs.

Despite the speculation, Ranieri says PFA Player of the Year Mahrez is keen to remain with the Premier League champions and Morgan believes there is enough good reasons for his team-mates to remain at the King Power Stadium.

"I know there's a lot of talking going off but hopefully everybody can follow in my footsteps," he said. "We have got a lot to play for this season."

Mahrez scored 18 goals and contributed 11 assists as Leicester recorded an historic Premier League title triumph last season and Morgan understands why suitors are keen to secure his services.

Who's in it, when is it and where will it be?

"We have some fantastic players and some of the bigger teams in Europe are going to want them," he added. "But we want to maintain our key players and build on that with the new players."
