Barnsley head coach Jose Morais has been sacked after the club's relegation to League One was confirmed.
The 52-year-old joined the club in February but was unable to keep them in the Championship, with a 4-1 defeat at Derby on the final day consigning them to the drop.
A Barnsley statement read: "Following a relegation clause within their contracts, the employment of Jose Morais, (assistant head coach) Dimas Teixeira and (physical coach) Joao Cunha has been terminated with immediate effect.
"Barnsley Football Club would like to place on record their thanks to Jose, Dimas and Joao for their efforts whilst in charge of the first team.
"The club acknowledges the disappointment of relegation and shares the view of supporters that this has been a disappointing season of results.
"The aim is now to have a proactive summer both on and off the pitch, in order to gain promotion back to the Championship."
Morais joined the club on an 18-month deal, but departs just three months after his arrival with a record of three wins in 15 matches.
The Portuguese worked as part of Jose Mourinho's staff during his time at Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Chelsea.
