Hull City duo ruled out for remainder of the season

Hull City have been rocked by the news that Jack Hobbs and Joe Dudgeon have been ruled out for the rest of the season. Hobbs limped out of the club's home defeat to Coventry on Saturday with a knee complaint and, although the exact severity of the injury is not yet known, it is understood to be serious enough to end the 23-year-old's season. "It doesn't look great and it looks like there is a bit of damage in there," said Tigers boss Nick Barmby. "I'm not going to diagnose the injury, but he'll be out for the rest of the campaign."

Defeats

To make things worse for Hull, whose play-off challenge has faltered following four straight defeats, former Manchester United youngster Dudgeon will also miss the rest of the campaign after he sustained a hamstring injury against Portsmouth on 27th March. A third defender, James Chester, also suffered a hamstring injury in midweek and Barmby faces a nervous wait to see whether he will feature again this campaign. "Joe will be out for three months. James has a hamstring problem and we don't know how long he's going to be out for yet, but I certainly won't be rushing him because I'm more concerned about his health.," added the 38-year-old. "He's had a scan and there's a slight tear, so it all depends how he responds to treatment."
