David Prutton's EFL predictions

Prutton's Predictions

David Prutton returns with his predictions ahead of this weekend's Sky Bet EFL matches...

But who is our resident expert tipping for victory? Read on to find out...

Bristol City v Middlesbrough, Saturday from 5.15pm - Live on Sky Sports Football

Every time you think Middlesbrough have got themselves going, they have another setback, and their 3-0 loss at home to Derby last week was absolutely disastrous for them.

Garry Monk's side are on the verge of the play-offs, but Boro's ambition was automatic promotion at the start of the season so that isn't good enough for them. Bristol City have been excellent this season and I fancy a home win here.

Prutton predicts: 2-1 with Bobby Reid to score first (25/1 with Sky Bet)

Birmingham v Wolves, Monday from 7.30pm - Live on Sky Sports Football

Can anyone stop Wolves? I feel like we're asking this question every week and, more often than not, the answer is no.

Birmingham showed some great resilience to hold Sheffield United to a draw last week, but it's hard to see where they can match this opposition on Monday night. This has got comfortable away win written all over it.

Brentford v Fulham, Saturday 3pm

We had some fantastic drama in one west London derby on Monday night, so why not have another just around the corner? It will be interesting to see Brentford react after that late collapse against QPR.

Fulham have put together a couple of wins in a row for the first time in a while, but I think that mini-resurgence comes to an end here.

Prutton predicts: 1-0 (11/1 with Sky Bet)

Millwall v Sheffield United, Saturday 3pm

It's been quite a while since Sheffield United have failed to win two games in a row, and even longer since they haven't won in three on the spin.

The Den is always a tough trip for anyone, but Chris Wilder won't let his men slip and I fancy them to get back to winning ways on Saturday - although Millwall will put up a fight.

Prutton predicts: 1-2 (8/1 with Sky Bet)

Preston v QPR, Saturday 3pm

How did QPR get out of that one on Monday night? Two goals down in the 93rd minute and somehow they managed to get a draw against Brentford. Remarkable. And it's important for Ian Holloway's side to keep on picking up points at home, because their away form has been dreadful so far.

Preston, meanwhile, have had a couple of good results lately and they'll fancy another three points here. I think this will be a draw though.

Prutton predicts: 1-1 (5/1 with Sky Bet)

Sheffield Wednesday v Hull, Saturday 3pm

Sheffield Wednesday are unbeaten in a while now but there have been too many draws for them lately, and they'll need to start turning those into victories if they want to get themselves into the play-offs.

There are few nicer games in the division right now than Hull at home, though, with Leonid Slutsky's side in terrible form. Their confidence must be so low after that collapse against Bristol City last week, and this is surely a banker for the Owls.

Prutton predicts: 3-1 (12/1 with Sky Bet)

Sunderland v Reading, Saturday 3pm

Will this be the game when Sunderland finally get that home win? Chris Coleman got off the mark at Burton last week but Reading are a totally different proposition, despite their indifferent season so far.

Jaap Stam's side have had a bit of a habit of popping up with a win when I don't expect them to, and I think this will be a good game with goals on Saturday. Score draw for me.

Prutton predicts: 2-2 (12/1 with Sky Bet)

Bristol Rovers v Rotherham, Saturday 3pm

These two sides are in absolutely dreadful form at the moment. For Bristol Rovers, it's six defeats in seven, and for Rotherham, it's just two draws in six.

I feel like it will be a nervy kind of a game and both sides would just be happy with a point, which they'll hope to build some momentum with. Score draw.

Prutton predicts: 1-1 (11/2 with Sky Bet)

Southend v Oldham, Saturday 3pm

Southend have suffered from a little bit of inconsistency this season which has kept them in the bottom half of the League One table, and usually home games against teams below you are must-win if you want to kick on.

But Oldham have been slowly climbing the table since Richie Wellens took over, and I fancy an away win in this one on Saturday.

Prutton predicts: 1-2 (11/1 with Sky Bet)
