Neil Redfearn 'unhappy' as Leeds deny him car park pass

There was no warm welcome for Neil Redfearn at Elland Road although it turned out to be a first happy return as new club Rotherham beat Leeds 1-0

Neil Redfearn accused his former club Leeds United of being "childish," following Rotherham's 1-0 victory at Elland Road.

The Millers boss was refused a car parking pass for his first return since leaving last summer but at least he could celebrate three points thanks to Joe Newell's second-half header.

Redfearn was denied a parking spot by Massimo Cellino's club and he joked: "It's very childish. I parked in Batley and I am getting the bus back.

"I found out yesterday but [fitness coach] Paul Warne drove my car in and I came in with someone else so they aren't that clever, are they?

"It hasn't soured my feeling for Leeds United, just one man."

The only goal arrived nine minutes after the break and moves Rotherham off the base of the table.

It was a fiesty encounter in which both sides ended with 10 men as Leon Best and Gaetano Berardi saw red for an off-the-ball incident.

Redfearn added: "This is sweet, it has been tough. Leeds fans will probably be as happy as Rotherham fans tonight.

"It was a real battling performance and I thought we wanted it more than Leeds today.

"When it mattered we wanted it more than them and that was apparent."

New Leeds boss Steve Evans, a former Rotherham manager, said: "I don't think we lacked application or effort, it looked like we lacked quality around the box.

"We are not going to hide behind a performance that was down from the last two games.

"It hurts, you take it twice as hard. I always take defeats hard so to take defeat against a team I have great pride in leaving does hurt more.

"Neil has got his first win, we will congratulate them, I hope they win some games but I feel we contributed to their success today.

"I am very low, I will be low for a couple of days."
