Leeds caretaker boss Neil Redfearn has refused to rule himself out of the running to take the job on a permanent basis.
Redfearn has stepped up from youth team manager to take charge of first-team affairs following the sacking of Simon Grayson on Wednesday.
Grayson was axed after three years in charge at Elland Road and Redfearn has been placed in temporary charge until a new manager is appointed.
Redfearn, who will occupy the dugout for this weekend's game against Bristol City, believes he has what it takes to be manager of Leeds, but is refusing to put too much pressure on himself.
Capable
"I am capable, that goes without saying, but the bottom line is the decision is up to the club. The decision is out of my hands.
"From my point of view I am only interested in Saturday's game and making sure everything's ready for whatever happens and whatever happens I will take it in my stride.
"I am not putting myself under any pressure either way.
"I am in this position now and I have still got a lot of good friends at this club that I want to help through in the short-term future, and if I can get some results for Leeds United and if that benefits whatever happens then great."
