Defender returns to Hungary

Southend United have sold Zoltan Liptak after the Hungarian defender failed to make a first-team appearance for the club. Liptak was a £50,000 arrival from Lompard FC Papa last summer after impressing Southend boss Steve Tilson during a trial. The imposing stopper signed a two-year contract at Roots Hall, but was unable to break into Tilson's first-team squad. He made two appearances for Stevenage Borough on loan and has now returned to Hungary with Ujpest. The Shrimpers have accepted a £60,000 fee for Liptak, with the League One club wishing the defender well. Assistant manager Paul Brush told the club's official website: "Zoltan never really progressed how we hoped for during his time at the club. We wish him well for the future."
