Billy Jones is waiting to see if he will leave Crewe Alexandra in January after explaining his reasons for wanting to move.
Crewe put the full-back on the transfer list last week after Jones confirmed he would not be signing an extension to his contract, which expires at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old was the subject of a failed approach from Southend United before the loan deadline and he has not started a game for Crewe since the end of September.
After joining the Railwaymen in 2007 from Exeter City, Jones is keen to find a fresh challenge, but insists his commitment on the pitch will not waver if he is recalled to the team.

"I have had some great times at Crewe and will always remember that they gave me a chance to play in League One," Jones told the club's
official website. "That is something I will always cherish in my career and I have fond memories from my time here.
"I just want a fresh challenge and told (former manager) Gudjon (Thordarson) as much in the summer. I told him that this would be my last season at Crewe after three years at the club.
"Just because I have expressed an interest in a fresh challenge doesn't mean I won't be less professional or not want to play.
"I don't know if I will be allowed to leave in January, it would have to suit all parties and be right for Dario (Gradi) and the club.
"I understand that, but if I go another six or seven games without playing and the chance to go out and play comes up then I would consider it."
