Southend have confirmed midfielder Ryan Hall will remain on the club's books, despite being jailed.

League Two Southend said Hall, 23, was given a 20-week term following a hearing at a magistrates' court in Southend, Essex, on Thursday. Hall admitted affray during an incident at a team Christmas party at a nightclub in Southend in December, said a spokesman. The Shrimpers spokesman said Hall, who was considering an appeal, had not been sacked. Hall joined Southend from non-league Bromley and had previously played for Bradford Park, Dagenham & Redbridge, Crystal Palace, Lewes FC and Crawley Town.
