Striker seals loan switch

Leyton Orient have completed the signing of experienced striker Sam Parkin on a loan deal from Luton. The Os had been looking to bolster their firepower for some time, but had been thwarted in their attempts to get fresh faces on board. However, they will now be able to call upon proven goalscorer Parkin until 10th January. The 27-year-old has long been admired by Orient boss Martin Ling, who is understandably delighted to have secured his services. "I'm very pleased to bring Sam to the football club. He was on the radar in the summer, but it didn't quite come off and we've been keeping tabs on him since," Ling told the club's official website.

"He's been out injured, but he's back fully fit now and he will offer us something that we've been missing up front. "He's six foot two and he gives you a focus to your attack. Sam has got three goals for Luton this season and they've all been headers. "Ever since the cruciate ligament injury to Wayne Gray we've been looking for a new striker and Sam fits the bill. "The ingredients are all there for him to be a very good signing for us between now and 10th January and if he does well there's a chance we could turn it in to something more permanent." Parkin's much-travelled career has previously seen him take in spells at Chelsea, Millwall, Wycombe, Northampton, Oldham, Swindon and Ipswich.
