Walsall returned to the top of the League One table following a dramatic 3-2 victory at home against Gillingham who had kicked off as leaders.

Jason Demetriou scored in injury time, half-volleying home Rico Henry's cross, to seal a superb Saddlers fightback.

Gillingham were two goals ahead after 32 minutes, thanks to goals from Cody McDonald and Bradley Dack - the latter via the penalty spot.

Yet, before half-time, Kieron Morris and Milan Lalkovic had brought the hosts level.

Walsall are now top of the table on goal difference from Burton who won 1-0 at Oldham.

Nasser El Khayati grabbed the only goal in the 17th minute before a dogged defensive effort saw Albion hold on for their 10th win of the season.

A second-half stoppage-time winner from Francisco Junior gave promotion-chasing Wigan a scrappy 1-0 win over struggling Swindon.

It was also 1-0 at Highbury where Sylvan Ebanks-Blake was on target in Chesterfield's victory against Fleetwood, while bottom club Crewe also won by a solitary goal, seeing off Sheffield United courtesy of Ryan Colclough's 71st minute strike.

Bury climbed back into the play-off spots following a thrilling 4-3 home win against Blackpool.

The Shakers stormed into a 2-0 lead inside 10 minutes through a Danny Rose double, only for the Seasiders to reply two minutes later through Mark Cullen.

Chris Hussey and Tom Soares put the hosts 4-1 up with two goals in eight minutes before Clark Robertson pulled another one back on the stroke of half-time.

And despite Jack Redshaw scoring a late penalty, the visitors were unable to stretch their unbeaten run to seven matches.

There were also plenty of goals at the Ricoh Arena as Coventry recovered from two down at half-time to edge past Peterborough 3-2.

Jermaine Anderson and Erhun Oztumer had Posh seemingly in control but Romain Vincelot replied early in the second half before Adam Armstrong netted twice during the final 10 minutes for the Sky Blues.

There was another comeback at Roots Hall where Southend and Rochdale shared four goals in a 2-2 draw.

David Mooney, from the penalty spot, and Ryan Leonard struck in quick succession just before half-time to put the hosts in command.

However, Joe Bunney and substitute Michael Rose ensured Dale returned north with a point.

Darren Ferguson chalked up his first home victory and first clean sheet as Doncaster manager with a hard-fought 2-0 win over Colchester. Conor Grant and Andy Williams were the names on the scoresheet.

Port Vale ended a run of one point from four games with a comfortable 2-0 home victory over Shrewsbury.

Second-half goals from Louis Dodds and Michael O'Connor, who slotted home a penalty, proved to be the difference.

It was also 2-0 at Glanford Park where Scunthorpe beat Barnsley. A sixth-minute howler from goalkeeper Nick Townsend gifted Tom Hopper the opening goal and Gary McSheffrey added another before half-time.

And there was further misery for Barnsley when former Scunthorpe striker Sam Winnall saw his penalty saved by Luke Daniels.

In the only goalless game of the day, Millwall drew 0-0 with Bradford at The Den.
