Robbie Neilson has rejected an approach from Rotherham and will leave Hearts to become MK Dons boss, according to Sky sources.

Neilson will take charge of Hearts tonight for the final time when Rangers visit Tynecastle, and the Scot will then travel south to replace Karl Robinson at the League One club.

It is understood Rotherham, the Championship's bottom club looking for a successor to Kenny Jackett, made a late, unsuccessful approach for Neilson.

The 36-year-old is in demand after leading Hearts to promotion and then a third-placed finish in the Scottish Premiership in his two full seasons in charge.

He joins MK Dons with his new club 19th in League One and without a home win in the league since their relegation from the Championship in May.

Neilson, who will be joined at Stadium MK by assistant Stevie Crawford, is up against predecessor Robinson in his first game in charge as the Dons go to Charlton in the FA Cup on Saturday.
