Coventry have issued a plea to supporters to stop blowing whistles inside the stadium, which could lead to the Sky Bet League One strugglers being hit with sanctions from the Football Association.
There have been ongoing protests against club owners Sisu, which have included pitch invasions as well as whistles from sections of the home supporters during games.
Coventry issued a statement on their website asking for fans not to show their frustration in such a way that could end up having severe consequences on the club.
"The club urges fans to stop blowing whistles inside the stadium on a Coventry City FC matchday," the club statement said.
"The Football Association has written to the club and made it abundantly clear that they will continue to monitor Coventry City fans' behaviour inside stadiums and any deliberate disruption of a game by our fanbase will leave the club open to FA sanctions.
"Whilst the club will always encourage vocal support in favour of the team, we kindly ask that fans refrain from blowing whistles that may cause distraction and/or interrupt a match."
It has been suggested a whistle blown in the crowd could have contributed to Bolton scoring a last-gasp equaliser in the 2-2 draw at the Ricoh Arena on January 2, with claims the noise caused confusion in the City defence.
Coventry are bottom of Sky Bet League One, and lost 1-0 against fellow relegation battlers Chesterfield on Saturday.
