Bristol Rovers have signed Oxford midfielder Liam Sercombe on an undisclosed fee, the Sky Bet League One club have announced.

The 27-year-old becomes Rovers' first summer signing following their 10th place finish in League One last season.

Manager Darrell Clarke was pleased to capture the services of Sercombe, telling the club's website: "Liam was one of my top summer targets. I was interested in signing him a couple of years ago as he is a quality attacking midfielder and I am delighted that he has agreed to join us.

"I'm sure that our supporters will remember him from his time at both Exeter and Oxford and will welcome and appreciate the way he plays the game and I am grateful to the club's owner and directors for their backing as we prepare for next season."

Sercombe came through the Exeter ranks, making more than 200 appearances for the Grecians before moving to Oxford in 2015 where he helped the U's secure promotion to League One during the 2015/16 season.
