Northampton Town must pay Mansfield Town up to £70,000 for Giles Coke, following a Football League tribunal hearing.
Coke moved to Sixfields in the summer at the end of his contract, but Mansfield were entitled to a fee for the 21-year-old.
The League Two club wanted £175,000 plus a sell-on fee, but a tribunal has decided The Stags will receive an initial £15,000.
Mansfield will be paid instalments of £7,500 in October and January, and will receive a further £40,000 dependent upon appearances, as well as 20 per cent of any future sale.
Fair hearing
Northampton were satisfied with the outcome and are now waiting for Coke to make his debut for the club, with the midfielder having been sidelined since January through injury.
"We had a fair hearing and this is roughly what we expected to pay," Cobblers chairman David Cordoza told the club's official website.
"What is important for us now is that we continue to work with Giles to get him fit and ready for first-team football as soon as possible.
"We are looking forward to seeing him pull on a Northampton Town shirt."
