Midfielder on the move after a few weeks at Tranmere

Chesterfield have snapped up Mark Allott just weeks after the midfielder had signed a two-year contract at Tranmere Rovers. Allott was signed by former Rovers boss Ronnie Moore after rejecting a new deal at Oldham Athletic, but does not figure in the plans of new Prenton Park chief John Barnes. He has been allowed to link up with Chesterfield for a second spell at Saltergate and he will also be reunited with Spireites boss Sheridan. The 31-year-old was signed for Oldham by Sheridan two years ago and he has now secured a contract until 2011 back at his old stamping ground. Sheridan is confident that Allott can play a key role in helping Chesterfield try to secure promotion from League Two this season. "Mark is a proven experienced midfielder who we all know so well," Sheridan told the club's official website. "I am delighted that he has become available and that he immediately wanted to join our promotion push here at Chesterfield."
