Saddlers boss draws line under striker's outburst

Walsall manager Chris Hutchings has confirmed striker Troy Deeney will not face disciplinary action following his outburst at Leyton Orient last weekend. The Saddlers frontman labelled the performance "embarrassing" after the 2-0 defeat and went on to question the commitment and desire of some of his team-mates. Assistant manager Martin O'Connor subsequently criticised the striker for the unprofessional way in which he aired his views in public. But Hutchings has moved quickly to play down the incident and has since quashed any talk of punishing the player. "It's finished with, we're disappointed but emotions run high and you say things you'd like to keep in the dressing room," said the Saddlers boss. "Troy has aired his views but we've drawn a line under it now." Walsall host promotion-chasing Colchester on Saturday and Hutchings has challenged his players to bounce back from last weekend's no-show. He told the Express & Star: "We've been on about it all season. Those who show the consistency are in the top six and those who don't are always floundering trying to get there. "We've had one good result and then been off the boil the next. We prepare and work hard when we have good games, so we have to look at why it keeps happening."
