Striker's loan spell at Brunton Park cut short

Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott will consider a move to sign Bristol Rovers striker Darryl Duffy permanently in the summer. Duffy was recalled from his loan spell at Carlisle by Rovers on Sunday before a patched-up United were beaten 1-0 at Charlton. The 26-year-old's loan spell was disrupted by a hamstring injury that limited him to just one goal in eight appearances before returning to the Pirates. Abbott believes Carlisle fans did not see the best of the striker's abilities at Brunton Park but said his name would certainly come back into consideration as the season draws to a close. He told the News & Star: "Doncaster called Paul Heffernan back from Bristol so they had to call Darryl back. "But we are building a squad for next season and he will come into my thoughts. We will try and construct the best possible squad we can for next year."
