And Leslie signs new contract with League Two outfit

Shrewsbury have landed Reuben Hazell on a two-year deal following his departure from Oldham, while Steve Leslie has signed a new contract. Experienced defender Hazell, who started out at Aston Villa before spells with Tranmere, Torquay, Kidderminster and Chesterfield, rejected the chance to pen fresh terms with the Latics at the end of the season. Shrews boss Graham Turner is delighted to have bolstered his squad for the new League Two season with the signing of the 32-year-old free agent. Turner told the club's official website: "We've managed to get Reuben to join the club and that is great news and a big boost for us. "It completes our defence now apart from maybe an out-and-out right-back. We have options but ideally I would like a right-back. "Reuben brings that bit more experience to the squad and adds to the balance and with Ian Sharps, Shane Sherriff and now Reuben gives us that nice mix."

Leslie

Leslie, meanwhile, has extended his stay at the Greenhous Meadow Stadium after returning from holiday ahead of pre-season training. The 23-year-old spent a spell out on loan with Hereford at the end of last term having slipped down the pecking order but is now ready to fight for his place in the side. Turner added: "I believe Steve has a lot of ability, a great left foot, but I don't know if the supporters have seen the best of him yet. "I know that if he can play to his abilities then he will be a terrific asset."
