Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has confirmed Francesco Guidolin's future will discussed at a board meeting this week.
The club are set to decide whether the 60-year-old Italian should continue as manager or be replaced ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.
Swansea were languishing two points above the relegation zone when Guidolin took over from Garry Monk in January but the Italian has guided the team to 11th with one game to play.
Guidolin has made no secret of his desire to extend his short-term deal at Swansea with Jenkins always saying the situation would be discussed at the end of the season.
"We have got our normal monthly board meeting on Wednesday and, yes, we will be discussing the managerial situation," Jenkins told the South Wales Evening Post.
"We are talking things through this week and we will give out a further update when we can. It could be this week or it could be next week when a decision is made.
"There is lots to talk through. We will talk about the season we have had, where we have finished and what we feel we need in the summer."
It is believed Jenkins has spoken to a number of potential replacements, with former manager Brendan Rodgers remaining the odds-on favourite to return to the Liberty Stadium.
The players have voiced their support for Guidolin and a growing section of the fan base believe he has earned a chance to carry on his work.
His claim to remain in the post was boosted by their 4-1 win at West Ham on Saturday.
After the game, goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski said:" "It's down to the chairman and down to the board to decide, but you can see things are working with him," he said.
"We're playing well and picked ourselves up, not only points-wise, but playing-wise as well. We've improved the way we play because in the first half of the season we struggled a bit."
