Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers thought his side thoroughly deserved their victory after beating Wigan 2-0 at the DW Stadium.
Gylfi Sigurdsson notched curled efforts either side of the interval to hand the Swans the points, although their task was made harder when Nathan Dyer was sent off for a high challenge on Jordi Gomez with half an hour to play.
Rodgers was delighted with the way his side held on for the victory, which pushes the Swans up to 33 points with 11 games remaining.
He told
Sky Sports: "I felt that the overall performance was outstanding.
"It was always going to be a difficult game coming here, even though Wigan haven't won here for quite a while, they've had some terrific performances here and there's always that bit of added pressure.

"But I thought today with the ball in that first hour we were terrific and we'd scored a couple of goals and could have had one or two more, the creativity was there.
"But obviously important for us is also our defensive resolve and that was tested in the final half hour.
"Overall I thought we were much the better side and thoroughly deserved the three points."
Asked if he now felt his side were on the brink of safety, Rodgers replied: "Well no, we certainly won't be until we're mathematically right - we can't afford to take our foot off the pedal.
"We're a very small club working in a big league and we just try to focus on every game.
"We've got no points tally, we just want to go into every match and sweat blood for the club and the shirt and that's what the players did today."
